Martin Investment Management, LLC and its predecessor firm have been registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since 1989.
Patrick Martin founded Martin & Co. in March 1989 to provide equity investment advice for several high net worth families. The focus was on establishing a disciplined investment philosophy for the firm based on successful historical strategies that included an emphasis on quality earnings, strong fundamentals, proprietary market positions, and reasonable valuations. The firm’s universe was investments in mid to large capitalization public equities in the domestic market and in international markets (about 10% to 15%) through the use of American Depository Receipts (ADRs). The firm’s Martin U.S. Investing Strategy was created based on this “Best Ideas” investment philosophy. The portfolio is limited to 25 to 30 names, and the turnover is approximately 20% per year. Sandra S. Martin joined the firm in 1991, assisting with equity research analysis.
The firm’s five equity strategies are aligned with the portfolio managers’ interest in uncovering and investing in growing, quality companies in the U.S. and developed non-U.S. markets.
